This castle has been one of my favorites for a long time. I finally got to visit it in May of 2006. It was even more amazing to be there and really experience it.
This is the entrance to the caslte. It was different than I was expecting, but not in a bad way. It was more regal and majestic than I had imagined.
We walked through the entrance and turned around to look at the backside. It changed color! From red brick to tan brick.
After you walk through the first entrance, there is a small area and then you come to another archway. This picture was taken from that archway and is looking up at the castle and the courtyard below.
The Marienbrucke crosses a gorge in the mountains on the side of the castle. If you don’t like heights, you might not want to go on this somewhat rickety bridge.
I went onto the Marienbrucke to get a good picture of the castle and when I looked down this is what I saw. A small, but beautiful waterfall of pure, clean mountain water.
So here is the good picture I wanted to take of the castle from the Marienbrucke. This is one of my favorite pictures because you can see almost all of the castle.
Probably not. I think this tower on the castle is a little to drafty. Plus, his bedroom probably overlooks the city and not the surrounding hills.
